St. Charles police complete holiday traffic safety campaign

The St. Charles Police Department recently completed the holiday enforcement period in connection with the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click It or Ticket" traffic safety campaigns.

Additional patrol officers were assigned to enforcement details centered on the busy holiday travel season at night time hours when impaired driving is more likely to occur.

It was done in cooperation with, and funded by, the Illinois Department of Transportation. This initiative is part of a statewide program to reduce the number of traffic related injuries and fatalities.

The enforcement details were held on the nights of Dec. 23 and 31.

St. Charles police officers assigned to the extra patrols made three DUI arrests (including one zero-tolerance arrest), issued one citation for speeding, and five citations for other offenses. Detail officers also issued four written warning tickets for various equipment and other violations.

Please continue to drive carefully and help the St. Charles Police Department in removing impaired drivers from the streets.
