Winter golf set for Des Plaines' Chili Open

The Des Plaines Park District's annual Chili Open golf tournament is filling up, despite forecasts of possible snow during the Saturday event.

Dedicated golfers have maxed out the 9 a.m. shotgun start time, but spots are still available for a noon tee time. The tournament is open to participants age 8 and up.

The cost is $20 for residents and $25 for nonresidents, which includes golf and lunch. Chili will be served 11 a.m. to noon at Club Casa, located in the clubhouse.

The National Weather Service is predicting a 20 percent chance of snow Friday night and Saturday morning.

Registration at the golf center and GolfCenterDesPlaines.com is open through Friday.
