District 58 gives superintendent a contract extension

Superintendent Kari Cremascoli has signed a three-year contract extension that will keep her in Downers Grove Elementary District 58 through at least June 30, 2020, officials said Wednesday.

The new pact calls for Cremascoli, who is being paid $210,233 this year, to receive annual pay increases of at least 3.5 percent for each of the next three years beginning July 1.

Those raises will include 1.5 percent annual "longevity" increases as well as raises equal to percentage increases in the Consumer Price Index of not less than 2 percent and not more than 4 percent a year.

Cremascoli has served as District 58 superintendent since 2012.

During that time, the district has maintained a balanced budget while increasing certified staff positions, updating its facilities and expanding its instructional programs, technology services and teacher professional development opportunities, school board President John Cooper said in a news release.

"We still have a lot of progress to make, but the District 58 board of education feels confident that Dr. Cremascoli and her team are the right people to continue this important work," he said.

Cremascoli and her husband, Brian, live in Downers Grove and their three children attend District 58 schools.
