District 207 board member 1 signature short

A Maine Township High School District 207 school board member is one petition signature shy of a place on the April ballot, while another candidate facing objections remains on the ballot for now.

The Cook County cerk's office determined Tuesday that board member Jin Lee is one short of the 50 required signatures. The office found candidate Aurora Austriaco had six signatures more than required, her attorney, Tom Jaconetty said.

Jaconetty, longtime attorney for the Cook County Democrats, said Lee plans to prove he has enough valid signatures.

Park Ridge resident Gary Gale, an arbitrator for the Illinois Workers' Compensation Commission and former director of the agency, filed the objections against Lee and Austriaco.

They are among the five candidates vying for four seats on the school board, which also includes Linda Coyle, school board President Carla Owen and Dan Gott, who tried to unseat Democratic state Rep. Marty Moylan in 2016.

A hearing officer is scheduled to make a recommendation on the cases Friday.
