Mahinay, Grant stop Wauconda
Ally Mahinay scored a game-high 14 points, and Grant's girls basketball team defeated host Wauconda 41-32 in Northern Lake County Conference action Tuesday night.
Keyana Linbo added 10 points for Grant (5-10, 3-3), which led 17-14 at halftime and then outscored the hosts 17-7 in the third quarter.
Allie Tylka had 10 points for Wauconda (10-8, 2-4), which saw its four-game winning streak. Katie Rossetti was out sick for Wauconda.
Antioch 61, North Chicago 37: Ashley Reiser put up strong numbers with 11 points, 6 assists and 5 steals, as the visiting Sequoits cruised in Northern Lake Country action.
Amy Reiser had 5 steals to go with her 12 points, while Julia Murillo came off the bench to score 10 points for Antioch (13-3, 5-1). In a physical game, Taylor Feltner led the Sequoits with 6 rebounds, and she picked up 4 steals in a strong defensive showing.
Lakes 47, Round Lake 32: Sara Smith had 10 points and 4 rebounds for the host Eagles in the Northern Lake County game.
Natalie Iacopetti and Mia Edwards (4 rebounds, 4 blocks) contributed 8 points apiece for Lakes (8-9, 2-4), which led only 8-6 after one quarter and 16-12 at halftime. The Eagles took a 33-20 lead into the fourth.
"Round Lake started with good energy," Lakes coach Brian Phelan said. "We got to halftime, made some adjustments, and we played a good third quarter to help extend the lead."
Round Lake fell to 3-13 and 1-5.
