Wauconda hosting ice fishing derby Jan. 28

Lake View Villa Association hosts its eighth annual ice fishing derby Saturday, Jan. 28 on Bangs Lake in Wauconda. The LVVA Ice Fishing Derby, supporting wounded veterans, has become one the largest and most successful ice fishing events in northern Illinois. This is a family-oriented event that features door prizes and raffles, kids category prizes, and contests for largest northern pike, bass, perch, crappie and bluegill. Registration tent opens at 5 a.m. Fishing will begin at 7 a.m. and end at noon. Participants may register at any time during the derby hours. The derby tent is located on the private beachfront in the Lake View Villa Association (LVVA) at 803 Edgewater Pkwy., Wauconda. Poor ice condition date will be Feb. 18.
