Get ready to globe-trot with the Schaumburg Park District

Journey to exotic places without leaving Schaumburg!

Open to children ages 6 to 8, the All Around the World series highlights different countries through food, games and crafts at Bock Neighborhood Center, 1223 W. Sharon Lane.

The first program in the three-part series, Egypt Night, takes place 6 to 8 p.m., Jan. 27. Children will create their own mummies, pyramids and masks.

"We'll play Egyptian-inspired games and make mummy pizza sandwiches, sand pudding and a tropical sand plate to feast on during the event," said Kathleen Benson, Bock Neighborhood Center manager and general program supervisor. "Children will munch on snack-type foods."

All Around the World arrives just in time to showcase recent renovations at Bock, which include updates to the lobby, front entrance and classrooms.

"If your last visit to Bock was during the summer season, you will be pleasantly surprised to see how new and fresh the building looks," Benson said.

Other upcoming All Around the World events include:

• Greece Night, 6-8 p.m., Feb. 10

• Japan Night, 6-8 p.m., March 24

Cost for each program in the series is $15 for residents and $17 for non-residents. Children must be signed in-and-out by an adult.
