Another MSL dual win for Buffalo Grove

Buffalo Grove's boys swimming and diving team produced another winning effort on Friday, this time a 119-63 victory over visiting Hoffman Estates in Mid-Suburban League divisional crossover action.

Mark Poirier's efforts led the way for the Bison. He took top honors in both the 100-yard butterfly (55.84) and the 50 free (22.71), and he also took the leadoff leg on Buffalo Grove's winning 400 free relay.

Other winners for BG included Jack Delattre in diving (289.55), Daniel Verdico in the 200 free (1:53.40) and Andy Gontko in the 500 free (5:28.11).

Hoffman Estates had plenty of top finishes, too. Andy Hobar won the 100 breast (1:04.13), Greg Baranov won the 200 IM (2:14.35), Mark Heitkotter won the 100 free (50.50) and Mike Tolzin won the 100 back (1:01.86). That same quartet won the medley relay in 1:45.88 but was disqualified in the 200 free relay in what would have been a winning performance.

Rolling Meadows d. Schaumburg: The host Mustangs used strong finish in the 100 breaststroke - a 1-3-4 finish from Jake Pors, Jack Mallek and Mark Helminski - plus a victory in the subsequent 400 free relay to earn a 98-87 win.

Josh Dellorto was a double winner (200 free, 100 free) for Meadows, and the Mustangs also got victories in the 100 fly (Filip Pancerz), 500 free (Nate Pardini) and 200 IM (Pors).

Schaumburg's victors included Matt Soltau (50 free), Brandon Nyborg (diving) and Joseph Kula (100 breast).

Prospect d. Conant: The Knights won two of three relays and let their depth take over against the visiting Cougars in a 130-56 decision.

Senior Matt Inserra was a double individual winner for Prospect, taking both the 50 free (22.47) and the 100 free (49.49.65). Other top Knights finishers were Nick Partipilo (200 IM), Dan Macina (200 free), Alex Jarosz (500 free), Asher Ginnodo (100 back) and Jacob Kosinski (100 breast).

In a head-to-head matchup of two of the MSL's top divers, Conant senior Cole Aykroid edged out Prospect's Anthony Liva 292.15-287.75.

Fremd d. Wheeling: The visiting Vikings remained unbeaten in MSL duals after claiming a 102-73 victory.

Senior Nick Seroni had winning efforts in the 200 free (1:47.62) and 100 fly (52.99), and the Vikings also had top finishers in Nick Nevins (100 free), Danny Konishi (50 free), Alex Schillinger (200 IM) and Arnas Maciunas (500 free).
