Wins for Stevenson, Wauconda

Stevenson's girls basketball team got 15 points from Madison Wicklund and Ashley Richardson in earning a 49-30 victory over host Carmel Catholic on Thursday in a nonconference matchup.

Stevenson improved to 13-3 and next competes Saturday against visiting Lake Zurich at 5:30 p.m. Friday. The Patriots led 14-9 after one quarter and then outscored the Corsairs 16-1 in the second quarter to go into halftime up 30-10. The visitors increased their advantage to 43-16 entering the fourth.

Jen Giesey had 10 points for Carmel (11-7), which dropped its third game in a row.

Wauconda 50, Marian Central 44: Allie Tylka had 13 points and 5 rebounds, as the host Bulldogs opened the 2017 portion of their season with the nonconference win.

Wauconda (9-7) also got contributions from Mallory Carver (10 points, 5 rebounds), Elise Deaver (8 points) and Katie Rossetti (7 points, 7 rebounds).

Wauconda's last game was Dec. 22, also against Marian Central, and the Bulldogs won 51-35 in the Northern Illinois Holiday Classic.

Marian Central fell to 7-10.
