Recycle your Christmas tree with MCCD

As you "undeck the halls" this year, do something good for the environment and recycle your Christmas tree.

Through Jan. 15, three drop-off locations are available that will help keep your holiday tree out of the landfills. Trees are processed into mulch, which will be available for free at a later date.

Drop off locations include:

• Glacial Park, 6316 Harts Road, Ringwood, off Harts Road parking lot;

• Rush Creek, 20501 McGuire Road, Harvard, at Twin Oaks parking area, west of the pond;

• Algonquin Township headquarters, 3702 Route 14, Crystal Lake.

Tinsel and decorations must be removed. If trees are transported in a bag, remove the bag. No commercial drop-offs will be accepted.

For details, call (815) 338-6223 or visit www.mccdistrict.org.

The Christmas tree drop-off is sponsored by the Sustainability Committee of McHenry County Conservation District.
