Indiana restaurant founded by billionaire gets new owner
CEDAR LAKE, Ind. (AP) - A destination fine-dining restaurant in northwestern Indiana founded by billionaire Dean White has a new owner following White's recent death.
White founded the nautically-themed Lighthouse Restaurant in 2009. The real estate, hotel and outdoor advertising magnate died in September at age 93.
The (Northwest Indiana) Times reports (http://bit.ly/2igG9O2 ) Merrillville-based hotel company White Lodging is the new owner of the Cedar Lake restaurant, which boasts a sweeping view of that lake and is known for its USDA prime beef steaks, flown-in seafood and boat-shaped bar.
Dean White's son, Bruce White, founded White Lodging, which is one of the nation's largest hotel development companies.
The company acquired the 11,600-square-foot restaurant that's a popular wedding reception and special events venue from Dean White's Whiteco Industries.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
