Christmas tree pick ups, drop offs

Waste Management will be collecting Christmas trees placed at the curb in Hawthorn Woods for recycling for the first two weeks in January. Tree pickups for recycling also will occur on Thursday, Jan. 5, and Wednesday, Jan. 11. After Jan. 20, trees will be collected as trash. Trees placed at the curb for recycling should be free from all tinsel, lights, and decorations (please remove the stand). Do not place trees in front of your trash or recycling bins. Undecorated, natural Christmas trees also can be taken to various forest preserves through Feb. 1 where they are chipped and used for trails and landscaping throughout Lake County. Visit www.lcfpd.org/holiday-tree-recycling/ for details and drop-off sites.
