Carpentersville Culver's gets a new look

The Culver's along Randall Road in Carpentersville temporary closed at 6 p.m. on a Sunday night this month, and shortly after everything in the dining room came out in preparation for crews to come in and remodel the restaurant.

The fast food restaurant, at 8000 Miller Road, reopened five days later with a brand new interior.

It is now ready to serve up ButterBurgers to the community with its new look.

"The community has given us so much over the years, and we wanted to give something back and make it a warming atmosphere for everyone to come in here," Culver's of Carpentersville restaurant owner Serena Michels said. "They will love it."

Regulars will notice that everything from the front register area of the store and forward has a new look.

All of the tables and booths came out, and a crew came in and installed new booths, tables and chairs, Michels said.

The crew also painted the walls and redid the front register area.

"Once you walk in, it's going to be completely different," she said. "People are going to love it when they come in.

"It's going to be beautiful," Michels said.

This coming spring, when the weather warms, the exterior of the restaurant will get a complete makeover too, Michels said.

"When we remodel the outside we plan to paint the brick, add stone, remove our awnings and give it a fresh facelift," Michels said.

Giving back:

As part of the season of giving at Algonquin Commons, mall officials also are encouraging shoppers to give back to others.

If you donate a new unwrapped toy or winter outwear to the mall's Guest Services office, you will be entered to win a $50 Algonquin Commons gift card. The Guest Services office is located next to Aeropostale.

Algonquin Commons is collecting items for three different charities this season.

Through Friday, Dec. 16, the mall is collecting the new, unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots.

The gifts will be delivered to children in need by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve this holiday season.

Through Dec. 16, the mall also is collecting new or gently used outwear for students in Community Unit District 300. They are looking for winter coats, winter hats, gloves, snow pants and snow boots. The items will be distributed to those in need in the area.

The mall also is doing a Cal's All-Star Angel Toy Drive, which runs through Dec. 31.

As part of the toy drive, they are collected new, unwrapped toys for girls and boys from infants to age 18.

Donated items will be delivered to children fighting cancer, and to their siblings as well, at Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago.

There will be one gift card entry given out for each item donated at Algonquin Commons. Winners of the gift cards must be age 13 or older.

On weekends when the mall office isn't open, you can drop your donations in the holiday gift wrap center at the mall between White House Black Market and Pottery Barn.
