First 'hackathon' at Warren High next month

Warren Township High School's O'Plaine Road campus in Gurnee will be the site of a "hackathon" in late January.

High school students from around Lake County will gather for the inaugural event that will run 26 consecutive hours Jan. 28 and 29. The invention marathon will be for programmers, designers, builders and others to come together for education and to share their creations, in this case, hacking quickly and intelligently creating a real application or solution that others can use.

About 150 upperclassmen high school and junior college students are expected. It'll be an event to celebrate Warren's 100th anniversary and will be sponsored by the school, College of Lake County, village of Gurnee, Chicago Council on Science & Technology and AKHAN Semiconductor Inc.
