Jets waive/injured Antonio Allen, promote Freddie Bishop

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) - The New York Jets have waived/injured safety Antonio Allen and signed linebacker Freddie Bishop from the practice squad.

Allen had been ruled out against San Francisco on Sunday with a concussion after being injured during New York's 41-10 loss to Indianapolis last Monday night.

Allen was a seventh-round pick of the Jets in 2012 out of South Carolina. He signed with Houston last March, but re-signed with New York in September after being waived by the Texans. Allen had one defensive tackle and four special-teams tackles.

The Jets have four other safeties on their roster: Calvin Pryor, who was just cleared from the concussion protocol, Marcus Gilchrist, Rontez Miles and Doug Middleton.

Bishop, a former Canadian Football League star, has been on the Jets' practice squad since September.
