Rolling Meadows fire displaces residents of 4 condo units

Residents of four units in the Saratoga Condominiums complex in Rolling Meadows were displaced by a fire Friday afternoon, authorities said.

The fire damaged one unit on the top level of a three-story building on the 5600 block of Astor Lane and left three other units uninhabitable, Rolling Meadows fire Battalion Chief Pete Sutter said.

The cause of the fire that began about 1:15 p.m. is still under investigation, but Sutter said it is not considered suspicious.

Rolling Meadows police came to the scene to help find shelter for those who were evacuated or displaced. Sutter said they temporarily went to the clubhouse in the center of the Saratoga complex.

Firefighters were on the scene until about 4:30 p.m., assisted by crews from Arlington Heights, Palatine and Palatine Rural fire agencies.

No injuries were reported.
