White Sox pick up Oakland pitching prospect Dylan Covey

As the MLB winter meetings wrap up, the Chicago White Sox selected pitcher Dylan Covey, a prospect with the Oakland Athletics, in the the Rule 5 Draft.

Covey, 25, is coming off an oblique injury last season, when he made six starts with Class AA Midland.

Covey, 6-foot-1, 220-pound right-hand pitcher, played for the Mesa Solar Sox in the Arizona Fall League in 2016, going 4-0 with a 4.74 ERA (13 ER/24.2 IP) and 17 strikeouts in six starts. The Glendale, Calif. native was selected by the Athletics in the fourth round of the June 2013 draft out of the University of San Diego.
