Wintry system moving into northern Indiana, snow likely

SYRACUSE, Ind. (AP) - The National Weather Service says blowing and drifting snow accumulating to as much as 6 inches is possible in northern Indiana.

The weather service has a winter weather advisory in effect through Friday afternoon for the five counties in northern Indiana that border Michigan. Forecasters say wind chill temperatures are likely to be between 5 degrees to 15 degrees below zero.

Lake effect snow is expected to develop Thursday with more significant accumulations likely late Thursday afternoon through Friday morning. The weather service warns motorists that there will be snow-covered and slippery roads and reduced visibility.
