Illinois Association of School Boards re-elects Phil Pritzker as organization's president

CCSD21 school board member Phil Pritzker was unanimously re-elected as president of the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB), a statewide organization representing more than 6,000 board members and nearly 850 member school districts across Illinois. The vote took place at the 2016 Joint Annual Conference on Saturday, November 19.

"I am honored and humbled to continue advocating for the best educational opportunities for all children," Pritzker said. "I look forward to our continued work to support quality public education and promote excellence in local school governance for school districts across our state."

Pritzker is entering his second year as president of IASB and has previously served as the organization's vice president. Pritzker is the first school board member from CCSD21 to serve as IASB's president in the organization's 103-year history.

Locally, Pritzker was appointed to the CCSD21 Board of Education in July 1989, and has been re-elected seven times, making him the longest-serving board member in district history. He served as CCSD21 president from 1991 to 1993, and again from 2001 to 2003. He has been the chair of the Board's Finance Committee since its inception in 2003.

"Phil is a dedicated public servant who seeks to bring stakeholders together to unite in support of our children," said Dr. Kate Hyland, CCSD21 Superintendent. "We are grateful for his work in CCSD21 and appreciate his advocacy on behalf of all children across the state and country."

Pritzker is a 1975 graduate of Bradley University in political science and education, is married, and has five children and nine grandchildren.
