IPFW to reinstate women's studies once set for elimination
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne says it's reinstating its women's studies degree program after originally including it among several to be eliminated under program cuts.
The university said this week the program will now be housed in the political science department after "the necessary administrative costs savings and instructional efficiencies" were found elsewhere.
The News-Sentinel reports (http://bit.ly/2glVj2U ) IPFW is wrestling with declining enrollment and a corresponding drop in revenue. An internal strategic review resulted in recommendations to eliminate, merge or suspend some degree programs and majors. Some have criticized the review, saying it was weighted in favor of engineering and technology-related fields.
