Stop by Elgin Public Museum for holiday exhibit, ornament making

The Elgin Public Museum, 225 Grand Blvd., offers a variety of programs this weekend, including "Around The World In One Night" and ornament making.

"Around the World in One Night":

In place of Family Science Night, take a trip around the world! Enjoy an evening of winter holiday traditions through the "Touching on Traditions" exhibit on Friday, Dec. 9. This is a drop-in program from 6 to 8 p.m. This annual, beautifully decorated exhibition features traditional displays of 32 countries from all over the world. Kids and adults alike can enjoy the stories, crafts, games and foods of the diverse winter holidays highlighted in this interactive program. Program fee is $2 per person; Members are free. No registration necessary.

Holiday Ornaments:

Get into the holiday spirit at the Elgin Public Museum! Listen to some yuletide music while making your own festive ornaments. Afterward, check out the holiday exhibit, "Touching on Traditions." This annual, beautifully decorated exhibition features traditional holiday displays of 32 countries from around the world.

This is a drop-in program from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11. Ornament making is free with admission to the museum: $2, 1$ for children. No registration necessary.

Bison Feeding:

Join an up close and personal look at the bison, deer and elk at the Lords Park Zoo on Saturday, Dec. 31. Meet at the museum for a short introduction after which they head to the zoo to assist the Lords Park zookeeper in feeding these magnificent creatures.

The Bison Feeding will begin at 7 a.m. at the Museum building. Cost is $2, $1 for children or free for members. Call (847) 741-6655 or email Francesca_epm@cityofelgin.org to register. Space is limited to 12 people, so please register early.
