Stop by Holiday Indoor Farmers Market Thursday at Advocate Sherman

Advocate Sherman Hospital will host a holiday Indoor Farmers Market from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, on their hospital's lake level at 1425 N. Randall Road, Elgin. Organized by the Downtown Neighborhood Association's Downtown Elgin Harvest Market and Shared Harvest: Elgin Food Cooperative, there will be 15 vendors on-site with local produce, meat, baked goods. Holiday items and other locally grown and produced items. New this month will be cheese and cleaning products.

Advocate Sherman Hospital received a Sodium Reduction Initiative grant from the Kane County Health Department for various sodium reducing projects, including funding the indoor market.

"Most people intake more sodium than they need," explained Dr. Savitha Suslara, family physician,"To reduce health risks one must adjust their diet and implement fresh organic produce, which is naturally sodium-free."

For the remaining winter months the indoor farmers market will be open on the second Thursday of every month: Jan. 12, Feb. 9, and March 9.
