Chicago DMV instructor charged with sexually abusing woman

CHICAGO (AP) - Authorities say a state Department of Motor Vehicles instructor is charged with sexually abusing a woman during a driving test in Chicago.

The Chicago Tribune (http://trib.in/2g87lcX ) reports that 29-year-old Joshua Atwater of Chicago was booked into jail on a felony charge of criminal sexual abuse.

Prosecutors say the assault of a 32-year-old woman happened on November 10. They allege that Atwater instructed the woman to drive from a DMV office on the South Side to an alley, where he accosted her.

The woman reported the incident to the police. Atwater was arrested after she identified him as her attacker and police took DNA samples from him.

Atwater's bail was set at $100,000 and the Cook County Jail web site indicates he remained in custody on Tuesday.
