A literary forecast of where we're headed?

Many feel that the recent choices of presidential candidates left something to be desired. OK. But what I would like to draw attention to is a book written by a Nobel Prize-winning American author in which a power-hungry man wins the election as president of the United States by “promising to re-store the country to prosperity and greatness”, “portraying himself as a champion of traditional American values” and “rapidly outlaws dissent, incarcerates political enemies in concentration camps, and trains and arms a paramilitary force who terrorize citizens.”

Those words above that are in quotes have been excerpted from the Wikipedia summary of that novel which goes on to describe in great detail what befalls this country.

If the electors from the Electoral College might have made a mistake, perhaps it's not too late?

The author: Sinclair Lewis.

The title: “It Can't Happen Here”.

Forewarned is forearmed. I'm just saying …
