Bulls assign McDermott to Windy City in D-League

Bulls forward Doug McDermott, who has not played since suffering a concussion on Nov. 12, has been assigned to the Windy City Bulls, team officials announced Monday.

McDermott, who was averaging 10.6 points on 51.4 percent shooting from the field this season, has missed Chicago's last nine games.

It's possible, according to Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg, that McDermott could return to the parent club later this week.

The Windy City Bulls, who play all home games at Sears Centre Arena, host the Canton Charge for a 7 p.m. D-League game on Friday. Windy City (5-4), in its first season in the NBA D-League, had a four-game win streak snapped Saturday night in a 95-83 loss to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (7-1).

The Chicago Bulls host the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday and the Miami Heat on Saturday.

• Also Monday, Windy City waived guard D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera, who averaged 3.0 points in 6 games.
