Illinois National Guard to mark anniversaries with cake

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - The Illinois National Guard plans a cake-cutting ceremony in Springfield to mark the 380th birthday of the National Guard and the 130th anniversary of Camp Lincoln later this month.
The ceremony is set for Dec. 10 at 3:45 p.m. at the Illinois State Military Museum . It coincides with the museum's "Christmas at the Front," an annual event meant to educate visitors on how soldiers celebrated the holiday during the Revolutionary War and three other conflicts.
"Christmas at the Front" will include a presentation about soldiers' Christmas letters, holiday carols and refreshments.
The event is free and open to the public. The museum will accept donations of new, unwrapped toys for the Toys for Tots charity.
