Two East Aurora students stabbed in fight

Two 16-year-old East Aurora High School students were stabbed around 3 p.m. Friday during a fight involving four people across from the school on the 800 block of Fifth Avenue, police said.

The victims ran about a block west, where police found them. The 16-year-old boys were taken to an Aurora hospital for treatment of wounds that police said are not life-threatening.

One of the students is stable with multiple stab wounds, authorities said, and the other is in good condition with a single stab wound.

The two male suspects ran east on Fifth Avenue to Smith Boulevard and then headed north, after which officers apprehended them without incident, authorities said.

Police said they recovered a knife from one of the suspects.

Both suspects were being interviewed Friday night by Aurora investigators.

The high school was placed on soft lockdown during the preliminary investigation, authorities said. There were no apparent acts of violence inside the school or additional violence outside the school once classes were dismissed.

Police said they have not ruled out the possibility the fight was gang-related.
