Aurora's Annual Showcase of Youth Art opens Friday

The Aurora Public Art Commission hosts the opening reception of the 19th annual Winter Garden of Youth Art from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at the Pierce Art and History Center, 20 E. Downer Place.

The Winter Garden of Youth Art is a dynamic exhibit of 165 works of art by Aurora students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Featuring a variety of mediums, the free exhibit will be on display through Jan. 21, 2017.

Participating schools include: Allen, Annunciation, Aurora Christian, Beaupre, Brady, Benavides, Dieterich, East , Fred Rodgers, Freeman, Gates, Granger, Greenman, Hall, Hermes, Hill, Hope Wall, Johnson, Krug, Marmion, McCleery, Nicholson, Oak Park, Rollins, Rosary, St. Peter, St. Rita, Schneider, Simmons, Studio Nafisa, Waldo and Aurora West High.

Following the conclusion of the reception, the gallery will remain open until 9 p.m. as a venue for December First Fridays.

Admission for both the reception and exhibit are free.
