Oak Brook Woman Business Owner Receives Innovative Business Award

Michele Vondrasek, founder and president of Von Technologies, headquartered in Oakbrook Terrace, received the Innovative Business Award from the Women's Business Development Center (WBDC) at an evening reception, WBDCelebrate, at Wintrust Grand Banking Hall in Chicago, on Nov. 15.

Von Technologies is one of the few woman-owned businesses competing in the telecommunications technology field. Due in part to the company's collaborative approach, flexible service delivery model, and key strategic partnerships, Von Technologies has grown dramatically and was ranked 17 out of 50 of the Fastest Growing Companies by the Women's President Organization in 2015.

Von Technologies' high level of customer service was on full display when it helped the WBDC improved it troubled technology infrastructure by providing the solutions it needed. As a former client who felt enriched by the WBDC's leadership development, contract negotiations training, and networking resources, Von Technologies took great pride in helping the center so it could better serve prospective, emerging and established business owners.

At the 30th anniversary event, the Black Ensemble Theater will deliver a one-night only performance honoring the past and forecasting the future of women business ownership, and a range of awards will be presented throughout the evening. Tickets, which are $75 each, include hors d'oeuvres, open bar, live music and all other activities. Ticket packages of five or greater are available at 20 percent off. As a leading Midwest economic empowerment organization, the WBDC today provides women, minority and military veteran business owners with the access they need to grow and prosper: access to contracts, capital, information and contacts to increase business capacity that adds jobs, fuels economic growth and builds strong communities. Over the years, the WBDC has continually updated its approach and programs, but its mission of empowering women and other underserved populations through entrepreneurship is unwavering.

To date, the WBDC has helped more than 78,000 clients start and grow a business. Annually, they certify 1,600 businesses as Women's Business Enterprises (WBEs) in a nine-state Midwest region and help them obtain corporate and government contracts and business financing through workshops, webinars, business counseling and events. The WBDC is headquartered at 8 S. Michigan Av., Chicago with satellite offices in Aurora, Ill., and Minneapolis, Minn. For more information visit www.wbdc.org.
