Greenbelt hosts environmental event

Elected officials, community leaders, and activists from around the country will gather at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Greenbelt Cultural Center in North Chicago for a public preview of the season finale episode of National Geographic's Emmy-Award winning series "Years of Living Dangerously." The episode, narrated by celebrity America Ferrera, features activists advocating for a plan to transition Lake County away from heavy polluting power sources. Speakers will include Congressman-elect Brad Schneider, Lake County Board Chairman Aaron Lawlor and Mary Anne Hitt, director of the Sierra Club's Beyond Coal Campaign. A discussion between local activists featured in the episode will proceed the screening of an exclusive clip from "Years of Living Dangerously." Greenbelt is at 1215 Green Bay Road.
