Swanson takes leave at Grant
Grant girls basketball head coach Kathie Swanson says she is taking a "leave of absence for personal reasons" and will not coach the team the rest of the season.
Swanson, who formerly served as head coach at Elk Grove and Libertyville, is in her second season at Grant. The Bulldogs went 13-15 last season.
Chris Van Alstine, who serves as the softball head coach, will coach the Bulldogs in Swanson's absence. He will be assisted by Megan Woit.
Van Alstine made his debut as interim head coach Tuesday night. Grant lost to Grayslake Central to fall to 0-6. The Bulldogs host Antioch Friday night.
