For 2016-2017, of the nearly 16,000 nursing homes evaluated, only 2,005 nationwide earned the best nursing home recognition. Criteria included health inspections and the absence or low incidence of deficiencies in state-conducted health inspections, nurse staffing, quality of medical care and rehabilitation therapy minutes.
