DuPage County and Local Students Celebrate Cool Yule

This holiday season, DuPage County's Environmental Division partnered with Community Consolidated School District 93 (CCSD93) to celebrate the holidays in an environmentally friendly way through a new program called Cool Yule.

The Cool Yule program challenged students in CCSD93's elementary and middle schools, which include students from Carol Stream, Bloomingdale, and Hanover Park, to create holiday ornaments or other decorations using recycled materials. Students creatively utilized magazines, plastic bottles, recycled paper and other materials to create more than 1,500 ornaments and festive decorations. The decorations are displayed on the holiday tree and railings around the atrium of the County's JTK Administration Building, 421 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton, now through Dec. 30. Families and the public are welcome to view the artwork from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Cool Yule is part of DuPage County's Cool DuPage program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through sustainable actions designed to assist in reaching the County's reduction goals. For more information on the Cool DuPage program, please visit www.dupageco.org/cooldupage.
