North: Chicago Bears should keep Fox, but not Cutler

So the Chicago Bears set a record for dropped passes in a 27-21 loss on Sunday to the Tennessee Titans at Soldier Field.

They dropped 10 passes, according to Pro Football Focus, the most passes dropped by a team since they started keeping the stat in 2006.

I read with humor that some people believe Matt Barkley, after just one game, isn't the guy to lead the Bears.

And these are the same folks who have been excuse-makers for eight years for the inconsistent Jay Cutler.

Credibility matters, yet some in the media who are influenced by Bears' management continue to trumpet Cutler.

Based on what?

The Bears also mistakenly believe that if the injured Cutler had played this past Sunday, the fans would have been breaking the gates down to see a last glimpse of Jay.

Again - based on what?

I just pray that Cutler will never take the field in blue and orange again!

The amazing bad news Bears are not so amazing and the amount of no-shows (11,000) who stayed away from Sunday's game was no surprise to me.

I know Cutler has broken some quarterback records set by Sid Luckman back in the 1940s, but players like Martellus Bennett and Brandon Marshall, no angel himself by the way, paint Cutler as a cancer.

This past Sunday, Cutler again stood on the sidelines and his disinterest was obvious.

Cutler somehow has managed to keep most of the media on his side during his eight years here, even with all the ups and downs and lack of playoff achievement.

Now there is talk on social media that he could be back. Hey, it's their turnstile.

Not since Dave Wannstedt has there been less interest in the Bears.

Do the men at the top have the answers? I doubt it.

I do think John Fox should return as coach, but if he was let go that would be the sound of Ted Phillips, president of the Bears, falling on his face again with another head coaching mistake.

I doubt they will fire Fox, but why not give him some solid pro receivers? Then, if he can keep his team away from the injury bug, they might have a chance.

But this Bears fan knows some pieces should be gone before more pieces are added.

Are you listening Bears?
