Palatine passes test at Prospect

Palatine raised its record to 4-2 on Tuesday night with a 37-22 victory over Prospect at the Jean Walker Field House in Mt. Prospect.

The Pirates were led in the Mid-Suburban League crossover by Reggie Much (10 points) and Sydney Rzepka (9).

Rzepka also pulled down 8 rebounds while teammates Kacie Fillian and Kendra Lindell each had four.

The Knights (2-3) received 9 points from sophomore Mandy Withey, who also shared team-high rebounding honors with Mary McKenna and Emily Frasco (4 apiece).

Buffalo Grove 65, Barrington 47: Buffalo Grove earned its second win of the season over visiting Barrington as seniors Georgette Topalis (19 points) and Megan Gamber (12) led the way. Sophomore Jackie Bickhaus chipped in 10 and Alyssa Floro 9 for the Bison (4-2).

Barrington (0-6) was led by freshman Taylor Thompson (17 points) and sophomore Tori Meyer (10).

Hersey 57, Conant 24: Senior Claire Gritt scored a game-high 23 points for Hersey (6-0) while classmates Kelly Weyhrich and Kendall Palmer had 8 apiece at the Ken Carter Gymnasium in Arlington Heights.

Conant (1-3) was led by Jorie Wachal's 11 points.

Schaumburg 44, Wheeling 40: Lauren O'Connell (15 points), Mallory Gerber (10) and Abigail Paolicchi (10) led visiting Schaumburg (2-4) to the MSL crossover triumph.

Melissa Claver (10 points), Kourtney Schuetz (9) and Nansy Velev (7) led Wheeling (3-4).

Regina D'Orazio, O'Connell, Gerber each had 3-pointers for Schaumburg while Schuetz had two for Wheeling and Shannon Kennedy 1.

Evanston 54, Maine West 40: Evanston handed visiting Maine West (6-1) its first loss in the Central Suburban League crossover.

Leading the Warriors was sophomore Rachel Kent (19 points). Teammate Allison Pearson tossed in a 3-pointer.

Willowbrook 50, Leyden 46: Visiting Leyden (2-3) was led by juniors Annissa Lemon (14 points) and Serena Caraballo (9).
