Windy City Bulls to ring bells for The Salvation Army of Elgin

As a new basketball season starts, the Windy City Bulls are stopping by Elgin as volunteer bellringers for The Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign.

In support of The Salvation Army of Elgin, players from the Windy City Bulls will be at the Elgin Walmart, 1100 S. Randall Road, from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5.

The public is invited to meet the Windy City Bulls players and donate to their red kettle. Cedric Quackenbush, manager of communications and community relations for the Windy City Bulls, states, "Our organization and players are thrilled to be involved as volunteer bell ringers knowing that the money we raise stays local to help families in need through The Salvation Army. We are a family-oriented organization with the desire to give back so that others may enjoy the holidays."

The Salvation Army has provided emergency assistance such as food, rent and utility assistance, clothing and prescriptions to families in need for more than 100 years in the Elgin area.

This Christmas season, The Salvation Army of Elgin will provide food boxes for 437 families and toys for more than 1,080 children.

Lt. Mike Hanton, corps officer for The Salvation Army, states, "We are blessed by the generosity of donors to be able to support these families during the holidays and to give them hope throughout the year with our year-round programs and services. We depend greatly on community supporters and volunteers especially during our Red Kettle Campaign."

Volunteer bell ringers can sign up online at www.RegisterToRing.com or call Hannah at (847) 741-2304 for information.
