Waukegan police seeking information on car thief suspect

Police are trying to find a man who stole a car from a Waukegan gas station, authorities said Monday.

The victims left the vehicle's engine running when they ran into the gas station on the 600 block of Lewis Avenue at 5:45 p.m. Nov. 20. The car was taken by a male customer of the gas station, authorities said.

Police did not release a written description of the thief, but a picture provided by police shows the person wanted for questioning is a white or Hispanic man, wearing a red and black coat, blue jeans and white tennis shoes.

The vehicle was recovered by police Nov. 22.

Waukegan police are asking for the public's help to identify the thief. Anyone with information should call the tip line at (847) 360-9001.
