Palatine Township Gives Thanks for YHOP Donation to Food Pantry

Palatine Township officials are expressing thanks for a recent donation that helped with the purchase of a commercial refrigerator for the Township Food Pantry.

The donation came from YHOP (Youth Hunger Opposition of Palatine), a group that was formed in 2007, and focuses its fundraising efforts on supporting the food pantry in a variety of ways.

"We are so thankful to YHOP for their generosity; this new commercial refrigerator helps our food pantry to keep more produce fresher; our in-need residents will benefit greatly from it," said Palatine Township Supervisor Sharon Langlotz-Johnson.

YHOP was founded by Kellie Kinsella, who was a Fremd High School senior in 2007. After Kinsella learned about the pantry's summer food shortages, she teamed up with her father Kevin, and built the group into what is now a yearly supporter of the Palatine Township Food Pantry through ongoing fundraising efforts.

Supervisor Langlotz-Johnson made a dedication in relation to the donation from YHOP on October 24, 2016. To learn more about YHOP, visit http://www.yhop.org/.
