Lakes gets win No. 3 at Johnsburg

Lakes' boys basketball team earned its third win of the season, 63-44 over Fenton at Johnsburg as part of the Johnsburg/Richmond-Burton tournament on Wednesday.

Lakes finished 3-0 in pool play and will play for the tournament championship at 7 p.m. Saturday at Johnsburg. Ian Haflinger led Lakes with 14 points with Kyle Rohr and Michael Behrendt each contributing 12 points.

The win also marked Lakes' 100th win in the past six seasons.

Fenton was led by Javier Sanchez with 12 points.

Stevenson 105, Christian Liberty 25: At Buffalo Grove, Justin Smith scored a game-high 22 points and led four Patriots in double figures.

Stevenson (2-0) also got 18 points from Willie Herenton, 17 from Mitch Huelsman and 12 from John Weiner.

Marian Central 56, Round Lake 29: At Woodstock, Zach Kuligoski scored 11 points and Chris Pierre had nine for the Panthers in their Hoops for Healing finale.

Round Lake finished 1-2 in the tourney.

Conant 70, Libertyville 52: A day after foul trouble limited his minutes, junior Ryan Davis showed why the Cougars want him on the court. The 6-foot-9 forward scored a team-high 22 points, shooting 9 of 13 from the field, and had 11 rebounds.

Senior guard and Bucknell-bound Jimmy Sotos added 21 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals for the winners.

Conant (3-0) led 33-30 at the half, but the Cougars separated themselves in third quarter to take a 50-39 lead into the final eight minutes.

Libertyville (0-3) was beat by another good team. Junior guard Drew Peterson finished 6 of 11 from 3-point range to score a game-best 25 points. He also had 4 rebounds and 4 assists.

Senior guard Harrison Bach scored 12 in the loss.

Warren 81, Elk Grove 39: At Mundelein, the Blue Devils picked up their first win to improve to 1-2.
