Sign up for Hoffman Estates Citizen Police Academy classes

The Hoffman Estates Police Department is accepting applications for its next Citizen Police Academy. Participants will learn about a variety of topics, including crime scene evidence and processing, investigations, SWAT, firearms, K-9, scenarios, traffic and DUIs.

A new class will be starting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 10, in the training room of the Hoffman Estates Police Department, 411 W. Higgins Road. Classes will then meet for 15 weeks every Tuesday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the police station, ending April 18, 2017. The course concludes with a graduation ceremony before a village board meeting in the spring.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, and reside, attend school or work in Hoffman Estates. Class size is limited, and spots fill up quickly. Applicants living in areas that do not offer a Citizen Police Academy may also be considered.

For information and to download an application, visit www.hoffmanestates.org/police and click the "Citizen Police Academy" link, or pickup an application at the Police Department front desk. If questions, contact Sgt. Mark Mueller at (847) 781-2866, or email mark.mueller@hoffmanestates.org.
