North Aurora president seeks re-election
North Aurora Village President Dale Berman is seeking his third consecutive term.
Village Clerk Lori Murray is also seeking another term, as are trustees Mark Gaffino and Michael Lowery.
And Tao "Tom" Martinez, who lost his bid in November to become Kane County's coroner, is also running for village trustee.
All filed their petitions Monday, the first day they could do so. Candidates have until the end of business Nov. 28 to file petitions.
Three trustee positions are available and all are for four years.
Depending on how many people seek each office, there could be a primary election in February to whittle the field. There would have to be at least 13 candidates for trustee and five or more for president and clerk for that to happen.
Otherwise, voters will choose their leaders in the consolidated election in April.
Berman defeated three others in 2009 and was unopposed in 2013.
Berman has lived in North Aurora for 54 years. He was village president from 1985 to 1989. He was also a village trustee for 14 years.
Lowery is in his first term and Gaffino has been on the board since 2005.
Trustee Chris Faber's term also expires in April. He hasn't decided whether to run again.
