Wolves' Copley earns shutout over Wild

Chicago Wolves goaltender Pheonix Copley (2-2-1) turned aside 20 shots for his first shutout of the season as the Wolves muted the Iowa Wild, 5-0, in their first appearance at Allstate Arena in two weeks.

Rookies Samuel Blais (G, A), Conner Bleackley (A), Vince Dunn (A) and Bryce Gervais (2G) each registered at least a point to account for 6 of the Wolves' 13 points in the contest.

The Wolves (6-7-1-1) opened the game with jump and, just 1:20 into the frame, Wade Megan netted his fifth goal of the season from Steven Michalek's (4-5-1) doorstep on a cross-slot feed from Landon Ferraro.

The Wolves continued to extend their lead in the final frame. First at 5:34, Andrew Agozzino redirected a Brett Sterling pass from the middle of the right circle for a power-play tally and his third of the season.

Just 46 seconds later, on the rush, Blais dropped a pass back to Jordan Schmaltz, whom was trailing, for a shot. Gervais crashed the net and the puck went off his body into the next for the 4-0 lead.

In last five minutes of play, Bleackey whipped the puck out of the left offensive corner to Emerson Clark near the slot for a shot. Again Gervais crashed the net and wrangled the rebound for his second marker of the evening.

Iowa's (6-10-0-1) Michalek was in net for 57:56 of the contest and stopped 17 of 22 shots. At the end of the first period he was replaced by Alex Stalock, whom stopped the single shot he faced, as the starting netminder needed equipment repairs.
