Trinity offers new Awana scholarships

Deerfield, Ill. - Trinity International University is offering two new undergraduate scholarships benefiting members of Awana Clubs International, an organization ministering to children and youth around the world.

Awana Clubs serve churches affiliated with more than 100 denominations, and focus ministry primarily on children and youth between the ages of 2-18. According to a statement posted on the organization's website, "Awana is a global, nonprofit ministry committed to the belief that the greatest impact for Christ starts with kids who know, love and serve Him."

Club members who have earned the Timothy, Meritorious, or Citation awards may be eligible for the new Awana Scholarship at Trinity College. Eligible students must be enrolled full-time in a degree-seeking Trinity program, and must provide documentation from Awana verifying award achievement.

Eligible winners of the Citation Award receive $4,000, while Meritorious Award winners receive $2,000 and Timothy Award winners are granted $1,000.

A second new scholarship at Trinity College will focus on full-time students who are sons or daughters of career missionaries. The Awana Missionary Scholarship will provide eligible students with 50 percent of tuition in total gift aid from Trinity, including any academic, athletic, or music scholarships to which the student may be entitled.

Both the Awana Scholarship and the Awana Missionary Scholarship are renewable on an annual basis.

"Awana is thrilled to connect with Trinity International University as they offer new scholarships to our students and missionary kids," Awana Clubs International President Matt Markins said. "The quality Christian education that Awana students will receive at Trinity provides a perfect next step in the discipleship journey they began in Awana."

"We are excited to see this scholarship program implemented in coming days," Trinity President David S. Dockery said. "Not only will this initiative provide support for quality students and their families, but it will strengthen Trinity's connection with key churches as well."
