Holiday train display returns to Sun City Huntley

The Kishwaukee Valley & Eakin Creek Sun City Model Railroad Club will open its traditional Holiday Train Display on Saturday, Nov. 19.

Trains will be running in the Prairie Lodge social lounge, 12880 Del Webb Blvd. in Huntley, starting the Saturday before Thanksgiving through Wednesday, Dec. 28.

Weekday running times are generally 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and weekend running times are 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. On some days, there may be extended hours dependent on other activities in the lodge.

Note: the week before Christmas, it will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Also, on Christmas Eve, the trains will run from 10 a.m. to noon when the lodge closes for Christmas. The lodge is also closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

Once again, the club will sponsor a raffle for three Lionel trains. This year's model will be a Lionel O Gauge Polar Express Passenger Train.

The raffle will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23. Winners need not be present.

Bring your kids, grandkids and cameras and spend some time enjoying this holiday tradition with the trains.

The Railroad Club is proud to sponsor this holiday event. They invite all Sun City residents, their family and friends, as well as residents of neighboring communities, to this annual tradition.

The event is free but they do ask that all children be accompanied by an adult.

Interested patrons can call the club's message center at (847) 669-2392 for details. Or check out the Sun City website at sccah.com.
