Tylka's 22 lead Wauconda past Belvidere

Sophomore forward Allie Tylka scored a game-high 22 points, and Wauconda's girls basketball team beat Belvidere 45-22 in its season opener as part of the Wauconda tournament on Thursday night.

Michaela Kimbell had 8 points and 5 steals for the Bulldogs, as Greg Dorgan won in his debut as interim head coach. Katie Rossetti added 7 points, 4 rebounds and 4 blocks.

Stevenson 54, Schaumburg 43: At Schaumburg, the Patriots moved to 2-0.

Ashley Richardson led Stevenson with 22 points and Klaire Steffens added 13. Kiana Cencula and Madison Wicklund scored 8 points apiece.

The Patriots play Evanston at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Mother McAuley 59, Libertyville 51: At Buffalo Grove, Claire Keefe had 19 points and 12 rebounds in the Wildcats' season-opening loss.

Caroline Frea added 15 points and 9 rebounds for Libertyville, and Morgan Manski had 10 points.

"We played well for three solid quarters," Libertyville coach Greg Pedersen said. "We lost some momentum in the fourth and couldn't get back on a run."

Mother McAuley's Tara O'Malley led all scorers with 23 points.

Buffalo Grove 58, Grayslake Central 51: At Buffalo Grove, the Rams lost their season opener, falling behind 18-9 after one quarter and 35-16 by halftime.

Amanda Larson led Grayslake Central with 16 points. Ania Barnes and Lindsay Brust added 13 and 12, respectively.

Buffalo Grove's Megan Gamber led all scorers with 17 points.

Lake Forest 54, Vernon Hills 50: At Vernon Hills, the Scouts closed the game with a 9-0 run to stun the Cougars, who led 43-36 after three quarters.

Maeve Summerville had 16 points and 15 rebounds to lead Lake Forest, which also got 13 points from Delaney Williams.

Kayla Caudle grabbed 21 rebounds for Vernon Hills (1-1), while Katie Burrows scored 15 points. Caudle and Becky Bahlmann each had 7 points for the Cougars.
