Ferragamo completes creative transition with 3-designer team

MILAN (AP) - The Salvatore Ferragamo fashion house has named Guillaume Meilland as the new menswear designer, completing a three-person design team to lead the brand.

Ferragamo said Thursday that Meilland will present his first collection during the fall-winter 2017-2018 runway preview in January. Meilland most recently was the senior menswear designer at Lanvin and previously was the lead men's sportswear designer at Yves Saint Laurent.

He joins womanswear designer Fulvio Rigoni, who made his debut in September, and Paul Andrew, the house's women's footwear designer.

Ferragamo has been undergoing both a creative and managerial transition, with CEO Eraldo Poletto taking over in August. Poletto said the three designers "united by their love of beautiful design and an immense, innate creativity ... will contribute to further strengthen our brand's image."
