CLC sponsors 'Think HBCU' College Fair

A college expo featuring historically black colleges and universities will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at Waukegan High School, 2325 Brookside Ave.

The "Think HBCU" College Fair, sponsored by College of Lake County, will feature representatives from the top 10 HBCUs: Spelman College, Howard University, Hampton University, Morehouse College, Tuskegee University, Xavier of Louisiana, Florida A & M University, Fisk University, Claflin University and North Carolina A&T University.

Twenty other colleges, including some from Illinois and Wisconsin, will be represented. There are more than 100 HBCUs in the U.S., which are welcome to any student.

Experts will also present the following workshops:

• Parents: Help your student go to college.

• FAFSA/scholarships.

• College application assistance.

• Transferring from College of Lake County to a four-year university.

The event is being sponsored by CLC TRiO Educational Talent Search Scholars, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.'s Lambda Nu Omega Chapter, JIC Community Development Center and Waukegan High School.
