Huntley man dies in single-vehicle crash

A 65-year-old Huntley man died from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle crash Monday near unincorporated Hebron Township.

A preliminary investigation showed that around 1:51 a.m. the man's 2013 Jeep Wrangler, which was southbound on Greenwood Road, north of Thayer Road, left the west side of the roadway where it struck a culvert and overturned for an unknown reason.

The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle with both front air bags deploying during the crash, authorities said.

He was the sole occupant and was treated at the scene by McHenry County sheriff's personnel and the Woodstock Fire Protection District, but succumbed to his injuries, authorities said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff's Office Major Crash Investigations Unit and the McHenry County coroner's office. Greenwood Road was closed for three hours Monday during the investigation.
