Unique shopping experience benefits Woodlands Academy

In addition to tours of four Lake Forest and Lake Bluff homes uniquely dressed for the holidays, the 21st annual Winter Wonderwalk & Holiday Boutique benefit for Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart offers a unique, three-day shopping experience.

Once again, the Gloria Dei Center on the expanded campus of Woodlands Academy will host boutique shopping events all three days of this year's Winter Wonderwalk, Thursday, Dec. 8, through Saturday, Dec. 10.

As part of Chicago's historic North Shore, the estates and homes of Lake Forest and Lake Bluff represent the best of architectural design from the past and present. Interior viewing of those selected for this year's housewalk tours will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9.

Boutique shopping begins Thursday, Dec. 8, as part of the "Let it Snow" preview and cocktail party from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Additional shopping hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, and 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10. Nearly 50 vendors from Lake Forest to Chicago, Wisconsin and beyond will be offering a variety of items that won't be found in traditional stores.

The Plaid Café, open from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, will be offering soup, salad, sandwiches and morning treats. A Hansa coffee outpost also will be open during the same hours.

Saturday schedule includes Pop-up Alley featuring one-day-only vendors and Outfit Your Gent for the Business Casual World, a men's fashion show. From 11-11:45 a.m., models will display styles from J. McLaughlin and accessories from other boutique vendors.

More than one-third of this year's vendors have a connection to the Sacred Heart network. Guided by the global vision of St. Madeleine Sophie Barat, the Network of Sacred Heart Schools is an association of Catholic, independent schools that spans the United States and 40 other countries.

It provides services and programs that promote and stimulate creative education and leadership framed by the Goals and Criteria for Sacred Heart Schools.

Winter Wonderwalk is one of the major fundraising events supported annually by the Woodlands Academy Parent Association, Alumnae Parents Connection and local alumnae. Proceeds benefit all students of Woodlands Academy.

Reduced Early Bird ticket prices are in effect through Dec. 1.
