No. 18 Virginia Tech might be able to clinch ACC Coastal
No. 18 Virginia Tech (7-2, 5-1 ACC, No. 19 CFP) vs. Georgia Tech (5-4, 2-4), 3:30 p.m. (ESPNU)
Line: Virginia Tech by 14.
Series record: Virginia Tech leads 9-4.
WHAT'S AT STAKE
If Duke manages to beat No. 15 North Carolina on Thursday night, the Hokies can clinch their first ACC Coastal Division title, and berth in the ACC championship, since 2011 with a victory. The Yellow Jackets need one more victory at achieve bowl eligibility.
KEY MATCHUP
Virginia Tech's defense against the Georgia Tech ground game. The Yellow Jackets are having a down year offensively, but QB Justin Thomas has been better of late and has just one interception in 115 passes. A creative mix could catch the Hokies off guard.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Georgia Tech: Thomas. The Yellow Jackets don't throw it much in their triple-option scheme, but when they have Thomas has been effective. He's completed 64.4 percent over the past four games for 750 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions.
Virginia Tech: RB Travon McMillian. The game plan against the Yellow Jackets always seems to be keeping their offense off the field, and if Virginia Tech can get its running game untracked with McMillian and QB Jerod Evans they will limit Georgia Tech's ability to pull any surprises.
